“The Gift of the Magi”

          After reading ” The Gift of the Magi “, I learned that there was a young woman named Della and she has a husband named Jim. It’s Christmas Eve and Della only has $1.87 to buy Jim a present. Della has to cut her hair, to get money, to buy Jim a platinum chain for his gold watch. This shows that she is both caring and thoughtful. At hom, when Jim walks in, Della whispers a little prayer. This may be a hint that she’s religious.

          Della is a loving and caring person. In ” The Gift of the Magi ” Della sold her hair then bought a chain for Jims watch. After getting home that day, Della whispers a prayer then Jim walks through the door. When Jim comes in she starts pouring out her feelings about how she got her hair cut. When she’s done they have a little conversation, and in the midst of it Della says ” But Jim nobody could count my love for you… ” (292). People should care that a person had these type of traits because if you knew a person like this, then you knew that you were loved and cared for. These are also some good traits to have in a marriage.

          Della is also a thoughtful and unselfish person because when she only had $1.87 to buy a Christmas present, she sacraficed her hair. Being thoughtful and unselfish are some significant traits to have because if Della didn’t have them, then she wouldn’t even have cut her hair or buy Jim a present. It’s rare to see these traits because not much people have them.

          Finally, ” The Gift of the Magi ” shows that Della is a religious person. After getting her hair cut and buying the chain, she stands near the door to lsiten if Jim is coming. When she hears the footsteps, she whispers ” Please God, makr him think I’m still pretty. “(290). This prayer tells the readers that Della is a little religious. Being religious is an important trait because almost everyone on this planet has a religion, even if it is being Christian or Baptist.

          To sum it all up, I think that ” The Gift of the Magi ” is a wonderful story! It shows that if you really, truly care about someone, then you would do anything to get what you think they might want. After all, The Magi were wise men. They even invented the art of giving Chirstmas presents. In this story a younf lady named Della want to buy Jim, her husband, a chain, but she doesn’t have the money. To get the money she gets her hair cut, then sells it. After buying the chain she goes home. When Jim walks in she tels him that she got a hair cut. Jim didn’t believe this statement. He then shows Della the present he got for her. Now she understood why he couldn’t believe her. Jims present were the combs that Della had always wanted.

My Favorite Mythological God:Hades

HADES        My favorite God is Hades because, even though he got the worst pick of jobs from Zeus and Poseidon he still managed to get things settled. He is the God of the under world, ruler of the dead. As pantheon .org says ” the under world is referred to as Hades domain.” Hades was one of the most cruel and hateful of the Gods because he abducted Persephone, his wife.Pantheon. org says “after being abducted Zeus orders Hades to let Persephone go. Right about Persephone is about to leave Hades gives her a pomegranate which she eats and is now bound to the underworld forever.” I learned from pantheon that Hades sits on a throne of ebony and has a scepter.He also has a helmet that can make him invisible. He occasionally lends the helmet to other Gods and sometimes even mortals. Pantheon also says that Hades has a lot of demonic companions, such as Thantos and Hypnos, Charon, and his hound Cerberus.” Cerberus is a three headed dog with a tail of a dragon and he stands at the gates of his masters kingdom. Hades also is one of the richest Gods because he own all the minerals on the earth. Of all the gods Hades was liked the least. Even some of the other gods didn’t like Hades.
